Hey Folks! Here is another installment from Faeries in the Gloaming, my Scottish Faerietale set in the 1880s that I have been collaborating with artist Julia Jeffrey. Julia just finished this image of Queen Mab, a key moment at the climax of my story. After Eliza and Alfred's father is kidnapped by the faeries they travel to the Highlands of Scotland to find him. There they learn that not only do they have faerie blood, but that their father's disappearance is part of a darker plot by Queen Mab to bring together the Unseelie Court and the Sluagh, or Unforgiven Dead, in order to wield unimaginable power. Below is Julia's image and an excerpt from my story.

Cold winds whipped in Eliza's face as Robin flew in pursuit of Queen Mab, for although the temperature had dropped significantly lower than the previous night, what she now observed completely chilled her to the bone. The hobgoblin had taken pains to fly at such a distance as to remain undetected by Mab, and Eliza was grateful that he had done so, for soon Mab was joined by all manner of monstrosities.
As the fairy woman flew higher upon the back of her dragonfly, various weird and twisted creatures swarmed in her wake, forming a nightmare processional. Eliza watched with growing horror as she saw sharp toothed, wizened faced hags riding astride their brooms, cackling manically over the potential for that evening's sport. In spite of the cold weather the hags were naked, their breasts lying withered and shriveled upon the curve of their rib bones. Although Eliza did not know them by name, alongside the hags flew several redcaps upon the backs of other winged fairies. Redcaps were ordinarily solitary by nature, but were always willing to leave their Border homes to congregate for the sake of the
