(Snarf basks in the garden.)
Snarf has finally been given the finishing touches, and is ready for presentation! He is sculpted of polymer clay over a wire armature, painted with acrylics and has a mohar wig. Trousers and shoes are made of dupioni silk, and his needled-felted jacket has a buttonhole stitch at the armholes as well as a hand made glass bead from Venice.
(While enjoying the patio chair, Snarf submits to more photos.)
Snarf stands about seven inches tall, without heels.
(Taking an interst in the local flora.)
The most labor intensive aspect to Snarf's clothing was the needle-felting process used on his jacket. I really love the richness of the wool and its deep colors. It is difficult to see in these images, but just beneath the wool are angelina fibers that catch the light with a truly magical shimmer.
(Snarf whirls on the camera to confront the photographer!)
Snarf was a pleasure to create, and I know that more are sure to follow!
